When deciding where to park in Alicante, start with the length of your visit. A half-hour errand, an afternoon in the city centre and picking someone up from the station all require different solutions. First choose your destination and estimate when you will return to the car; then compare parking options, prices and walking distance.

In this guide, you will find options for the city centre, the port and Alicante Terminal, as well as the published conditions for the blue and orange parking zones. We also explain what to check before entering the historic centre and how to organise parking when using a rental car.

Information checked on 10 September 2026. Always check the signs on the street and the operator’s current conditions before parking.

Where to Park in Alicante Depending on Your Plans

For a visit combining shopping, food and sightseeing, we recommend choosing a car park where you can leave the vehicle for the entire stay. For a short errand, compare this option with an ORA space whose maximum parking time fits your plans.

These six options can help you organise your arrival in different parts of the city:

Car park

Best suited for

Access reference

Published opening hours and height limit

Alfonso el Sabio

Central Market and Luceros

Signposted entrances along the avenue, near the Market and Luceros

24 hours; check height limit.

San Cristóbal

Walking around the historic centre

Rambla de Méndez Núñez, on the section between Duque de Zaragoza and Alfonso el Sabio

Confirm opening hours and height limit before entering.

Saba Maisonnave

Shopping on Maisonnave

Calle Castellar, 6

24 hours; maximum height 1.90 m.

Plaza del Puerto

Visiting Muelle de Levante

Muelle Levante, m. 3, s. 7

24 hours; maximum height 2 m.

Puerto Alicante-Poniente

Visiting the Poniente area

Muelle de Poniente, 10A

24 hours; maximum height 2.05 m.

Saba Estación Tren Alicante

Picking up passengers or leaving the car while travelling

Calle Metge Pedro Herrero, 17–19

24 hours; maximum height 2.20 m.

Before comparing prices, make sure you are using the same parking duration and the same purchase method. Distinguish between the drive-up rate without a reservation, the online booking price and any discount that requires an app.

Also factor the walking time back to the car into your plans. If you are picking someone up with luggage, prioritise a convenient route from the passenger exit. For an afternoon of shopping, consider how you will get back to the car with your bags.

Map of Alicante Car Parks and Available Spaces

Check the Alicante municipal parking map to locate facilities connected to the Alicante se mueve service. These include Alfonso el Sabio, San Cristóbal and Plaza de la Montañeta, with occupancy information when data is available.

Check the information before you start driving and keep a second option in mind. A number showing available spaces does not constitute a reservation.

In your navigation app, select the vehicle entrance. Once you have parked, calculate the route from the pedestrian exit to your destination. For the return journey, take a photo of the floor and parking space number.

Blue Zone and ORA in Alicante: Hours, Rates and Maximum Parking Time

Alicante’s blue zone includes several parking categories. The operator distinguishes between basic, commercial and medium-stay parking, each with different maximum time limits. You should therefore read the sign on the street rather than relying only on the colour of the road markings.

The following table shows the operating hours and reference prices published by the ORA service:

Type

Regulated hours

Maximum stay

Published rates

Basic

Working Mondays to Fridays: 9:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00. Working Saturdays: 9:00–14:00

2 hours

30 minutes: €0.30. Two hours: €1.80

Commercial

Working Mondays to Saturdays: 9:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00

2 hours

30 minutes: €0.30. Two hours: €1.80

Medium stay

Working Mondays to Saturdays: 9:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00

5 hours

30 minutes: €0.15. Five hours: €1.50

The hours come from information published by the operator, which states that Sundays and public holidays are unregulated for these categories. The amounts shown apply to the specific periods indicated and should not be treated as a uniform hourly rate that can simply be multiplied.

The same rule does not apply across the entire blue zone on Saturday afternoons. Basic parking is free from regulation, while commercial and medium-stay areas remain regulated from 16:00 to 20:00 on working Saturdays.

Orange Zone: Conditions for Visitors and Residents

The orange zone gives priority to residents but also allows visitors under separate conditions. For visitors, the operator publishes a maximum stay of one hour, priced at €0.70 for thirty minutes and €1.40 for one hour.

Published regulated hours are from 9:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 on working Mondays to Fridays, and from 9:00 to 14:00 on working Saturdays. According to the service, parking is not charged on Saturday afternoons, Sundays or public holidays. If you are visiting with a rental car, check the visitor conditions. Do not select a resident rate unless you have the required authorisation.

In April 2026, Alicante City Council announced a new concession including proposed changes, such as a two-hour limit for visitors in the orange zone. However, the tender announcement alone does not confirm that the new rules have entered into force. The operator information checked for this article still states a one-hour limit, so check the signs in place on the date of your visit.

How to Pay at the Parking Meter or by Mobile Phone

At a parking meter, identify the correct zone, select an allowed parking period and confirm the payment. If you receive a paper ticket, place it inside the vehicle where it can be clearly seen through the windscreen. The operator states that the machines accept card payments and do not give change.

For mobile payments, you can use Moviltik, which includes Alicante among its supported cities and allows several vehicle registration numbers to be added. Check the city, parking zone and vehicle before starting the parking session.

With a rental car, compare the registration number in the app with the actual vehicle. When the rental ends, we recommend removing the registration number from your account so that you do not accidentally select it on a future trip.

What to Do If You Need to Park for Longer

Do not confuse the amount of parking time you have paid for with the maximum stay permitted in the zone. Extending a session from your phone does not override the maximum time limit.

If you decide to add lunch or dinner to your walk around the city, check the expiry time before sitting down. For a longer itinerary, choose a car park from the start that allows you to leave the vehicle for the entire visit.

Penalty Notices: What to Check

Read the reason shown on the notice and keep your paper ticket or digital payment receipt. The operator provides a cancellation procedure for certain cases involving overstaying the paid parking time, but it does not apply to every type of violation. Its published information excludes cancellation when no ticket was obtained.

Check the deadline and instructions shown on the notice before taking action. Keep proof of any payment or procedure you complete.

Where to Park in Alicante City Centre

Central Market and Luceros: Alfonso el Sabio Car Park

The Alfonso el Sabio car park is located beneath the avenue and has entrances close to the Central Market and Plaza de los Luceros. Its website lists vehicle entrances at both ends and confirms that it is open 24 hours a day.

Choose the entrance according to your arrival route and identify the pedestrian exit you will use later. If you are visiting the market, look for the exit closest to that part of the avenue. If you are meeting someone at Luceros, agree on a meeting point above ground.

Before entering, check the price for the amount of time you expect to stay. Do not use an old photograph of the tariff board as a reference or extrapolate the cost of a monthly subscription to a visit lasting only a few hours.

If you plan to take shopping back to the car and then continue your visit, ask about pedestrian access conditions. If you are carrying luggage or using a trolley, locate the lift; the car park lists one among its facilities.

Visiting the Historic Centre: San Cristóbal Car Park

San Cristóbal is another useful option for organising a visit to Alicante’s historic centre. The City Council lists its entrance on Rambla de Méndez Núñez, on the section between Duque de Zaragoza and Alfonso el Sabio, and includes it in the municipal parking information service.

Save this entrance as the destination in your navigation app. Once you have parked, continue to your chosen destination on foot.

Before driving down the ramp, check the car park’s opening hours, height limit and rates. If you are going out for dinner or planning a visit that ends late, also confirm how you will be able to retrieve the vehicle.

Do not assume that reaching the car park means you are authorised to drive on every street in the historic centre. Alicante City Council maintains restricted-access rules in this area, which we explain further below.

Shopping on Maisonnave: Access via Calle Castellar

Saba Maisonnave lists its access address as Calle Castellar, 6. It is open 24 hours a day and has a maximum vehicle height of 1.90 metres. A lift is available, and payment can be made by card or cash.

For an afternoon of shopping, calculate the parking cost until the time you expect to leave the car park, rather than until the last shop closes. Add the walking time back to the car and the time needed to load your bags.

Check the total height of your vehicle, including any accessories mounted on the roof. If you are unsure, stop before entering and ask the staff.

If you expect to use the car park several times during your stay, compare the products offered by the operator. Check whether the selected product allows you to leave and re-enter. Purchasing parking for a certain period should not be interpreted as unlimited entry unless the terms explicitly state this.

Parking at Alicante Port: Where to Leave Your Car

Plaza del Puerto and Puerto Alicante-Poniente

There are two Interparking facilities at the port that are worth distinguishing: Plaza del Puerto on Muelle de Levante and Puerto Alicante-Poniente at Muelle de Poniente, 10A.

Both are advertised as open 24 hours a day, but their prices differ. The following comparison uses the same parking durations and separates the standard rate from the published P-app rate.

These are the prices published by Interparking on the pages checked for this guide. To use a P-app rate, review the requirements before entering. Do not assume that the discount will automatically apply to a conventional parking ticket.

Walk, Restaurant or Boat Trip

Choose the car park only after identifying your restaurant, activity or boarding point. Get an exact location and calculate the walk from the pedestrian exit.

For a boat trip, include the time needed before boarding and allow extra time for returning. Before buying a fixed-duration parking product, check what happens if you return later than expected.

If you plan to combine a walk with a swim, also see our guide to Alicante beaches and coves and decide which activity will take up most of the day.

Parking at Alicante Train Station

How to Reach the Alicante Terminal Car Park

For parking at Alicante train station, look for the Saba Estación Tren Alicante listing. Its published address is Calle Metge Pedro Herrero, 17–19. The operator states that it is open 24 hours and has a maximum vehicle height of 2.20 metres.

Pay attention to the access route because construction work on the Central TRAM Station has led to changes. In September 2025, Alicante City Council announced vehicle access via Pedro Herrero and pedestrian access via Luis Sánchez Octavio de Toledo. Check the road signs for your specific journey instead of relying on older directions via Avenida de Salamanca.

Do not choose a car park simply because its name contains the word “Estación.” The municipal directory also lists a separate car park on Avenida de la Estación, which is different from the Saba railway station facility.

Picking Up Passengers or Leaving the Car While Travelling

If you are picking someone up, agree on a meeting point before you arrive. Ask the passenger to contact you after leaving the train and once they can identify the exit they will use.

If you need to accompany someone into the station building, we recommend parking first and completing the rest of the journey together on foot. Do not base your plan on finding somewhere to wait while remaining stopped in the car.

If you are leaving the vehicle while taking a trip, check the total price for the entire stay, the booking conditions and how you will access the car park when you return.

If your train ticket mentions a parking benefit, verify that it applies to that particular facility and to the parking product you have booked.

Where to Park for Free in Alicante

San Gabriel Park-and-Ride Car Parks

As a reference point for finding free parking in Alicante, the City Council opened two parking areas in San Gabriel in 2023, around Deportista Joaquín Blume, Ramón Gómez Sempere and Doce Puentes. The municipal announcement described 223 free parking spaces close to stops served by bus routes 01 and 36.

The announcement confirms that the facilities opened, but it does not replace checking their current conditions. Before choosing this option, review the signs, access arrangements and current public transport schedules.

Calculate the complete journey: parking, walking to the stop, waiting time and the return trip. If you are travelling as a family or group, compare the cost of additional transport with the cost of parking closer to your destination.

Free Parking Does Not Remove Restrictions

Check all signs in the area you choose and look for temporary notices. Do not assume that an open area containing parked cars is an authorised car park, or that an old photograph proves that access is still permitted.

If you plan to leave the vehicle overnight, check what conditions will apply the following morning. In an ORA space, find out when regulation begins again and organise either the removal of the vehicle or the required payment.

Access to the City Centre and the Low Emission Zone: What to Check Before Driving

Alicante’s Low Emission Zone and access restrictions in the historic centre are two separate issues that need to be checked independently.

In its frequently asked questions, updated in July 2026, Alicante City Council explains that the described phase of the Low Emission Zone does not impose general automatic restrictions based on environmental vehicle labels. However, restrictions on access to the historic centre remain in place.

You should therefore not use the vehicle’s environmental label as the only basis for deciding whether you are allowed to enter a particular street.

Municipal information on the historic centre establishes authorisations for residents and provides for certain one-off access permissions for non-residents through the relevant procedure.

Submitting a request does not mean that authorisation has been granted. If your accommodation is located within a restricted area, ask for instructions before arriving. Confirm the permitted entrance route, arrangements for unloading luggage and any vehicle registration procedure that may be required.

Make the same checks if you have booked a car park. Ask the operator to confirm the access route and any required procedures. Do not assume that a parking reservation automatically overrides traffic restrictions.

Before setting off, also check traffic incidents through Alicante se mueve and adapt your route to the signs you encounter. The municipal portal provides information on incidents and traffic conditions.

Parking at Alicante Airport: P1 and Long-Stay Parking

For picking up passengers at the airport, you can consider the General P1 car park. Aena places it next to the terminal, with a pedestrian walk of approximately one minute, 24-hour opening and a maximum vehicle height of 2.10 metres.

For leaving the car for several days, compare the PL long-stay car park. Aena states that it is approximately a three-minute walk from the terminal and requires an advance reservation for access. Without a reservation, drivers are directed to the general car park.

Enter your actual dates and times into Aena’s booking system. Compare the total price and modification conditions before booking. For your return, allow time to collect your luggage and walk back to the car.

Returning a rental vehicle requires you to follow the rental company’s instructions. Before driving to the airport, agree with ClanRent on the return location, time and procedure.

Do not choose P1 yourself as the vehicle return point. Also confirm who is responsible for any parking charges and how to make contact if your arrival time changes.

Tips for Parking a Rental Car in Alicante

When arranging your car rental in Alicante, ask for the dimensions of the vehicle you will be using. Compare its height with the maximum limit of the car park and ask about access if you are carrying accessories or have concerns about a ramp.

Also consider the amount of space needed to open the doors and access the boot. If you are using child seats, choose a parking space that allows you to get the children in and out without squeezing between vehicles.

Do not continue a manoeuvre if you cannot clearly judge the distance from a pillar or kerb. Stop and ask the car park staff for assistance when necessary.

Check the Registration Number and Keep Your Receipts

Before paying through an app, check the vehicle registration number and the parking zone. Keep all receipts until after the rental has been fully completed.

Check your rental agreement to find out how incidents should be reported and what procedure applies to notices connected with the vehicle. To avoid uncertainty over charges, ask for the conditions in writing.

For days spent outside the city, plan the parking for each stop together with our driving routes through the towns of Alicante. Save the selected access point before beginning your journey.

Frequently Asked Questions About Parking in Alicante

Do You Have to Pay for the Blue Zone on Saturday Afternoons?

It depends on the type of blue zone. The operator states that the basic zone is unregulated on Saturday afternoons, while commercial and medium-stay zones remain regulated from 16:00 to 20:00 on working Saturdays. Always check the sign on the street.

Can I Park in the Orange Zone with a Rental Car?

The orange zone allows visitors under the conditions published for visitor parking. Check the maximum parking time and pay the appropriate rate. Having a rental vehicle does not replace the authorisation required to use the resident parking scheme.

Where Can I Leave the Car Overnight?

Facilities that are open 24 hours include Alfonso el Sabio and Saba Maisonnave. Before choosing one, check the overnight or stay-based price and how you will access the car park on foot when you return. Being open 24 hours does not by itself determine how much you will pay.

How Can I Check Whether Parking Spaces Are Available?

Check Alicante se mueve for car parks that provide occupancy data to the system. Review the information before setting off and keep an alternative option available. Do not use an old screenshot of parking occupancy when deciding where to go.

Which Car Park Is Best for Picking Someone Up at the Station?

Start with Saba Estación Tren Alicante and verify the published entrance via Pedro Herrero. Then calculate the route to the passenger exit and agree on a meeting point with the person arriving.

Do I Have to Pay for Parking When Returning a Rental Car?

Check the conditions agreed with the rental company. Before entering a car park, confirm the return point, the handover procedure and who is responsible for any parking charges. Keep your receipts if you make a parking payment during the return process.
