If you need to rent a car for a month in Alicante, do not calculate your budget by multiplying a daily rate by 30. A long-term rental may have its own price, mileage limits, deposit, and conditions of use.
ClanRent reflects this difference on several vehicle pages in its fleet. Models such as the Audi R8, Infiniti Q50, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi RS3, and Toyota ProAce VIP show a specific rate for shorter rental periods and, for Month+, indicate an individual price available on request.
That is why, before booking for 30 days or longer, you should estimate how much you plan to drive and request an offer that clearly specifies the total price, mileage, deposit, insurance, drivers, and return conditions.
What You Should Check Before Renting a Car for a Month
A monthly rental requires you to review more than just the advertised vehicle price.
Condition | What you should check |
|---|---|
Monthly price | Total amount for your dates |
Included mileage | Daily or total limit applicable to the rental period |
Additional mileage | Price you will pay if you exceed the limit |
Deposit | Amount and method used to provide the security deposit |
Insurance and excess | Coverage, liability, and exclusions |
Additional driver | Whether one is allowed and what requirements they must meet |
Maintenance | What to do if the car needs servicing during the rental |
Permitted territory | Where you can drive and whether you can cross borders |
Extension | How to extend the contract |
Return | Location, date, time, and conditions |
The European Consumer Centre in Spain recommends checking mileage, insurance, possible additional charges, conditions for taking the vehicle outside the country, and any fee for returning it to a different office before renting.
For a rental lasting only a few days, a small difference in mileage may not have much effect on the final cost. Over a month, it can.
How Much Does It Cost to Rent a Car for a Month in Alicante?
The Monthly Price Is Not Always Equal to 30 Daily Rates
Suppose a vehicle page shows €100 per day for rentals lasting between 9 and 25 days. You should not multiply €100 by 30 and assume the car will cost €3,000 per month. ClanRent distinguishes between these rental periods on several vehicle pages.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class lists €100/day for 9–25 days and then shows “Month+: Individual price on request.” The Infiniti Q50 lists €45/day for 8–25 days and uses the same individual pricing system for Month+.
The Audi R8 shows €500/day for 9–25 days, but it also separates this rate from its monthly pricing and refers customers to an individual quotation. This means the monthly budget should be requested for your specific dates.
What a Monthly Quote Should Include
Request an offer in which you can clearly identify at least:
- exact dates
- vehicle model or category
- total price
- included mileage
- additional mileage rate
- deposit
- insurance coverage and excess
- second driver, if required
- delivery and return location
The European Consumer Centre states that customers should receive clear information about the total price, additional services, rental period, category or model, delivery, return, and the amount required as a deposit or pre-authorisation. This level of detail is more useful than comparing only the daily rate.
Daily Rate vs. Total Cost
Imagine two offers for one month. The first costs €60 per day but includes very few kilometres. The second costs €70 per day and includes a mileage allowance that covers your entire planned route. If you drive a lot, the second vehicle may ultimately cost less.
Calculate:
rental + additional kilometres + extras + delivery or return + other contracted services.
The daily price is useful as a reference. The total cost determines which offer suits you best.
Mileage: One of the Key Factors in a Monthly Rental
Over 30 days, you can accumulate a lot of kilometres without noticing. Driving between your accommodation and work, shopping, travelling around Alicante, and taking four or five trips along the Costa Blanca can significantly affect the total.
Daily Kilometres or Total Mileage Limit
Before signing, ask how mileage will work in your Month+ offer. A company may set a daily limit, a total limit for the entire rental period, or another contractual formula.
Do not multiply the mileage allowance advertised for standard rentals by 30 and treat it as guaranteed monthly mileage if the Month+ offer is calculated separately.
On ClanRent, current vehicle pages are useful for seeing differences between models, but the mileage included in a monthly offer should be confirmed together with its price.
Examples Published by ClanRent
These are some of the conditions currently shown on individual vehicle pages:
Model | Published mileage | Additional mileage | Deposit | Month+ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Infiniti Q50 | 250 km/day | €0.50/km | €300 | Price on request |
Mercedes-Benz E-Class | 200 km/day | €0.50/km | €500 | Price on request |
Toyota ProAce VIP | 250 km/day | €0.50/km | €1,000 | Price on request |
Audi RS3 | 200 km/day | €3/km | €3,000 | Price on request |
Audi R8 | 150 km/day | €2/km | €4,000 | Price on request |
The data comes from the published pages for these models. Use it as a reference to understand what you should compare. Confirm which mileage allowance, additional mileage rate, and deposit will apply to your specific monthly offer.
How to Calculate How Many Kilometres You Need
Make an estimate before contacting the company. For example:
30 km per day × 20 days of regular use = 600 km
Add four trips of approximately 200 km each:
4 × 200 km = 800 km
Then add a buffer of around 200 km for shopping, restaurants, route changes, and short additional journeys. Your estimate would be:
600 + 800 + 200 = 1,600 km per month.
You do not need to estimate the mileage exactly. You need to know whether you expect to drive around 800, 1,500, or 4,000 km.
What Happens If You Exceed the Limit?
The additional mileage rate can significantly change the rental cost. If you drive 500 km over the limit:
€0.50/km = €250
€2/km = €1,000
€3/km = €1,500
For this reason, a sports car with an attractive rental rate may no longer be suitable if you plan to travel around Spain throughout the month. Compare the vehicle with your actual usage.
Deposit for Renting a Car for a Month
The Deposit Depends on the Vehicle
There is no single amount that can be described as “the ClanRent deposit.” Published vehicle pages show considerable differences.
The Infiniti Q50 lists €300. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class shows €500. The Toyota ProAce VIP lists €1,000. The Audi RS3 increases to €3,000, while the Audi R8 requires €4,000.
A Bentley Continental GT Speed W12, for example, lists a €6,000 deposit, showing how much this amount can vary within a premium fleet.
What You Should Ask About the Deposit
Before booking, ask the company to confirm:
the amount, payment method, whether the money is blocked or charged, and the refund procedure.
Do not confuse the deposit with the rental price or the insurance excess.
If you need to review these concepts before booking, see our guide to car rental requirements in Spain, where we explain the difference between the deposit, excess, and booking payment.
Insurance and Excess for a Long-Term Rental
Over the course of a month, you will park more often, drive on more roads, and leave the vehicle in different places. That is why you should understand the coverage before you start.
Check What Is Included in the Price
Ask what protection applies in the event of:
- vehicle damage
- theft
- accident
- windows
- tyres
- underbody damage and roadside assistance
Third-party liability is part of the coverage that a rental vehicle must have in the EU, but other types of coverage depend on the contract.
The European Consumer Centre also warns that some additional coverage still includes exclusions, for example for windows or tyres.
Excess and Exclusions
Do not simply ask:
“Is it insured?”
Ask how much you may have to pay and under what circumstances.
Two vehicles with a similar monthly price may have different liability conditions.
If the contract includes an excess, check its amount and the situations in which it applies. Then review the exclusions.
In our upcoming guide to rental car insurance and excess, we will explain these differences in greater detail.
Which Car Should You Choose for a One-Month Rental?
A car that is fun for a weekend is not necessarily the best option for 30 days. Think about how you will use it.
For Daily Use: Comfort and Easy Parking
If you will be working, shopping, and driving around Alicante almost every day, pay attention to:
- fuel consumption
- size
- comfort
- trunk space
- mileage
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is an example of a saloon focused on comfort and travel. Its vehicle page lists 200 km per day, €0.50 per additional kilometre, and a €500 deposit, along with a Month+ price available on request.
That does not automatically make it the right option for you, but it shows the combination of factors you should review before comparing a saloon with a sports car.
For Driving Long Distances
If you plan to travel around the Costa Blanca, Valencia, Murcia, or take other trips within Spain, mileage becomes more important.
The Infiniti Q50 lists 250 km per day and €0.50 per additional kilometre, along with a €300 deposit.
Confirm again which conditions apply to your Month+ offer. The vehicle page helps you compare models, but the monthly offer may have its own limits.
Also consider everyday driving. Spending 20 days behind the wheel makes factors such as driving position, climate control, and interior space more important than during a two-day rental.
For Families or Groups
With four or more passengers, count your suitcases before choosing a vehicle. The Toyota ProAce VIP lists 250 km per day, a €1,000 deposit, and a Month+ rate available on request. Its page also presents it as a vehicle for groups and executive transport.
For a month-long family stay, a larger vehicle can make airport transfers, shopping, and day trips easier.
Do not pay for seven or eight seats if you will be driving alone throughout the month. Vehicle size also affects your parking options.
Sports or Premium Car for a Month
With a sports car, you need to consider much more than power. The Audi RS3 lists 200 km per day, €3 per additional kilometre, and a €3,000 deposit. The Audi R8 lists 150 km per day, €2 per additional kilometre, and a €4,000 deposit.
The BMW M4 Competition Cabrio provides another example: 150 km per day, €3 per additional kilometre, and a €3,000 deposit.
If you plan to use the vehicle for long trips over a month, calculate the mileage first.
If you want it mainly for shorter journeys, events, and weekends, a sports car may suit your usage pattern better.
You can also compare ClanRent’s high-end cars before requesting a monthly quote.
Monthly Rental for Work, Holidays, or a Temporary Stay
One Month Working in Alicante
For business use, start by calculating your regular commute. If you drive 25 km for the round trip to and from work and use the vehicle for 22 days, you already have 550 km before any personal journeys. Add meetings, shopping, and weekend trips.
You will also need to decide where to leave the vehicle. If your accommodation does not include private parking, our guide to where to park in Alicante explains the blue zone, ORA, and various city car parks.
For everyday work use, it usually makes more sense to prioritise comfort, easy parking, and the cost of additional mileage.
One Month on Holiday on the Costa Blanca
The calculation is different. You may barely drive for several days and then take routes of 150 or 250 km. A one-month stay gives you time to spread out destinations such as Altea, Calpe, Moraira, Jávea, and Dénia instead of trying to see them all in one weekend.
You can use our guide to beautiful towns in Alicante to estimate your day trips and our guide to Alicante beaches and coves to decide which coastal areas to include.
Write down your planned journeys before requesting a quote. This allows you to tell ClanRent that you expect to drive, for example, around 2,000 km instead of simply saying, “I don’t know.”
Temporary Stay or Relocation
If you are in Alicante for several weeks because of a temporary stay, prioritise space and flexibility.
You may need to transport luggage, make several large shopping trips, or collect people from the airport.
Also ask how a possible extension works. If your stay could increase from four to six weeks, it is better to understand the procedure before reaching the return date.
Additional Driver During a One-Month Rental
Sharing the driving makes more sense during a long rental than with many weekend bookings. If another person will drive the vehicle, include them according to the terms of the contract.
Do not simply lend them the car because they have a valid driving licence. The company needs to know who is authorised to drive.
Before booking, ask:
- what documents the second driver needs
- whether they must meet age and driving-experience requirements
- whether there is an additional fee
- when they must be added to the contract
Our guide to car rental requirements in Spain explains the basic rules regarding documents and drivers.
Maintenance, Breakdowns, and Assistance During 30 Days
A monthly rental can coincide with a maintenance warning, loss of tyre pressure, or a breakdown. It is useful to know what to do before a problem occurs.
If the Car Requires Maintenance
Contact the company. Do not book servicing yourself, replace parts, or authorise repairs without following the rental company’s instructions.
When booking, ask:
What should I do if a maintenance warning appears during the month?
The answer should tell you who to call and where to take the vehicle if necessary.
If There Is a Breakdown or Warning Light
Stop when the situation requires it and follow the vehicle’s instructions and the roadside assistance service. The European Consumer Centre recommends contacting the rental company immediately in the event of an accident.
For other mechanical issues, also use the communication channel specified in the contract. Do not clear warning messages or attempt to repair a premium vehicle yourself.
Tyres and Daily Use
Over the course of a month, pay attention to tyre-pressure warnings, visible damage, and any messages on the dashboard.
That does not mean you are responsible for maintaining the vehicle. It means you should report issues when you notice them and avoid continuing to drive if the vehicle indicates a problem that could compromise safety.
Can You Travel Outside Alicante With a Monthly Rental Car?
Alicante can be the base for your rental without limiting all your journeys to the province. The important question is what your contract allows.
Travelling Around Spain
Several ClanRent vehicle pages state “Delivery throughout Spain” or use similar wording. For example, this appears on the Infiniti Q50, Audi RS3, and Toyota ProAce VIP pages.
This statement refers to delivery. On its own, it does not prove that you can return the vehicle in any city free of charge or that every model can be used in any territory.
Ask separately:
- Can I drive throughout Spain?
- Can I return the vehicle in another city?
- How much does delivery or collection outside Alicante cost?
Do not interpret a logistical option as a contractual condition that is not stated on the vehicle page.
Crossing a Border
If you want to travel to Portugal, France, or another country, inform the company before booking. Your Europe recommends notifying the rental company when you plan to drive a rented vehicle in several countries so that it can confirm authorisation, documentation, insurance, and roadside assistance.
Do not cross a border simply because the insurance “should be valid.” Obtain confirmation for the specific vehicle and dates in your contract.
How to Extend the Rental Beyond One Month
If your plans change, request the extension before the scheduled return date. Do not wait until the contract has expired. Availability of the same vehicle may have changed, and the new rental period may require another offer.
Ask whether the extension changes:
- price
- mileage
- deposit
- insurance or dates
- return location
Obtain clear confirmation of the new rental period. An informal conversation may be enough to begin the process, but you need to know that the company has accepted the extension and under what conditions.
Do not continue using the vehicle after the agreed end date assuming that you will sort out the contract later.
How to Return the Car After One Month
After 30 days, you have even more reason to spend a few minutes documenting the return.
Before Returning It
Confirm the location and time. Remove your personal belongings, check the trunk, and review the fuel or charging policy specified in the contract. Note the final mileage.
If the vehicle displays a warning that you have not yet reported, inform the company before returning it.
During the Return
Whenever possible, inspect the vehicle together with a member of staff.
The European Consumer Centre recommends checking the vehicle together with the company, documenting its condition, and taking photographs of the interior, exterior, fuel gauge, and odometer.
Also keep the photographs you took when collecting the vehicle.
After Handing Over the Keys
Request confirmation that you have returned the vehicle. Ask what happens next with the deposit and when the company begins the relevant release or refund process.
Do not delete your contracts, receipts, and photographs on the same day. Keep them until the rental is fully closed.
How to Request a Monthly Quote From ClanRent
A specific message makes it much easier to provide an accurate quotation than simply asking how much “a car for a month” costs.
You can prepare your request in the following format:
Dates: October 1–31
Driver: 32 years old, 10 years of driving experience
Passengers: 2
Planned use: Alicante and trips around Spain
Estimated mileage: 2,000 km
Luggage: 2 suitcases
Car type: premium saloon
Then ask the company to specify in its response: total price, included mileage, excess mileage rate, deposit, insurance, additional driver, delivery, and return.
This format fits ClanRent’s own system, as different vehicle pages list Month+ rental as an individual price available on request.
It also reduces the risk of comparing two offers that include different things.
Mistakes to Avoid When Renting a Car for a Month
Calculating the Monthly Price as Daily Rate × 30
If a Month+ quotation is available, request that rate.
Failing to Estimate Mileage
An excess of 500 or 1,000 km can significantly change the cost, especially for models with high additional mileage rates.
Comparing Cars Based Only on the Rental Price
Include the deposit, mileage, and extras in your comparison.
Allowing an Unauthorised Person to Drive
Add the second driver to the contract according to its terms before they use the vehicle.
Waiting Until the Last Day to Extend the Rental
Request an extension before the scheduled return date and confirm the new conditions.
Frequently Asked Questions About Renting a Car for a Month
Is It Cheaper to Rent a Car for a Month?
The average daily rate may be lower, but there is no universal answer. At ClanRent, several vehicle pages separate the Month+ price from shorter rental periods and offer an individual quotation. Compare the full monthly price instead of extrapolating a 9–25-day rate.
How Many Kilometres Are Included in a Monthly Rental?
It depends on the offer. Current ClanRent vehicle pages show different reference figures depending on the model, ranging from 150 km per day for vehicles such as the Audi R8 to 250 km for the Infiniti Q50 or Toyota ProAce VIP. Confirm which limit applies to your Month+ price.
How Much Deposit Do I Need?
It depends on the vehicle and the specific offer. The reviewed vehicle pages list deposits ranging from €300 for the Infiniti Q50 to €4,000 for the Audi R8, while other premium models may require more. Request the amount before booking.
Can I Rent a Car for Exactly 30 Days?
Request a quote for your exact dates. Do not assume when the Month+ period begins based only on its name. If you need the vehicle from October 3 to November 2, provide those dates and let the company calculate the applicable rental period.
Can I Add a Second Driver?
It may be possible if the company authorises it and the driver meets the established requirements. Add them to the contract before they drive.
Can I Travel Throughout Spain?
You should check the authorised territory stated in your contract. The fact that some vehicle pages advertise delivery to different locations in Spain does not replace this check.
Can I Travel to Another Country?
Ask the company before booking. The EU recommends informing the rental company if you plan to drive in other countries so that documentation, insurance, and roadside assistance can be confirmed.
Can I Extend the Rental After the First Month?
Request the extension before the contracted period ends. The company will need to confirm availability and the conditions for the additional period.
Which Car Is Best to Rent for a Month?
For urban use, prioritise comfort, size, and ease of parking. For long journeys, look at mileage and excess mileage costs. For families, check seating capacity and trunk space. If you want a sports car or one of the high-end vehicles, pay closer attention to the deposit and the price per additional kilometre.
Rent a Car for a Month With ClanRent
If you need a car rental in Alicante for one month, prepare your dates, estimated mileage, number of passengers, and preferred type of vehicle before requesting a quote.
ClanRent publishes individual prices on request for Month+ periods on various vehicle pages in its fleet.
Ask for an offer that clearly specifies the total price, mileage, deposit, and conditions applicable to the specific model. This will allow you to compare the true cost of the month before booking.
